Distill is a working community. We hold each other to a higher bar than the open internet because the signal here matters.
What we expect
- Be specific. “I noticed people are tired of skincare” is noise. “I overheard three people in line at Sephora say they were going back to Vaseline” is a signal.
- Cite sources. When you reference a quote, link, or trend, tell us where it came from.
- Distinguish observation from opinion. Both are welcome — just don’t blur them.
- Disagree productively. Tension sharpens insight; personal attacks dull it.
What we don’t allow
- Spam or self-promotion of unrelated products and services
- Sharing private information about identifiable individuals without consent
- Reposting paywalled or confidential content from other sources
- Discriminatory language, harassment, or bad-faith engagement
- Generative AI content posted as if it were original observation
Confidentiality
Conversations inside Distill are not for screenshotting or syndication. Insights belong to this community first, and to published Distill reports second. If you want to reference something publicly, contact the editorial team.
Moderation
The Distill team moderates this space. Repeated violations result in warnings, then suspension. Edge cases are handled by humans, not bots.
If you see something that needs attention, flag the post — we read every flag.
